Education

Taking advantage of education opportunities in the parish is important both for children and adults. Learning and growing in our faith is a continual process that starts at a young age and continues throughout our lifetime. Whether you or your child want to learn more about what it means to be Catholic, or if you are a seasoned parishioner wanting a deeper understanding of Christ, education programs within the parish can help.

Catechists are needed for all grades for School Year Religious Ed. programs. Subs are needed in all grades should a catechist be absent. To volunteer, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or call her at 864-4714.

Children

Even at an early age, children are learning about their faith and the importance of Christ in their lives. Whether they are attending the Children's Liturgy of the Word at Sunday mass, Catholic School, or any of our Religious Education Programs, an early childhood education is an important tool in building the foundation for a life-long faith. There is a wide variety of options available for Religious Instruction for children and youth. For information on our various Religious Education programs contact Peggy Byers, Religious Education Coordinator.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

We are deeply sorry, but due to the lack of volunteers we cannot offer Children’s Liturgy of the Word at this time.

We are finding it difficult to continue offering Children's Liturgy of the Word on Sundays (typically through the school year) at the 8:45 Mass and 11:15 Mass. This important ministry to our youngest members, specifically children between the ages of 4 and First Communion. During the Liturgy of the Word, adult leaders share the Gospel with our children in an easily understandable and relate-able way.
Please consider volunteering to sustain this important ministry to our youngest Church members. You do not have to have young children to volunteer - grandparents, young adults, and high school teenagers can all help. Lesson plans are provided.

St. Edwards offers Children's Liturgy of the Word on the first and third Sundays at the 8:45 Mass and the first Sunday of the month at the 11:15 Mass, for children between the ages of 4 and First Communion. During the Liturgy of the Word, adult leaders share the Gospel with our children in an easily understandable and relate-able way. Children do not need to pre-register to attend. The more children who attend, the more adult leaders are needed! If you are interesting in volunteering for this ministry.

Volunteer Opportunities for Adults and Youth

Opportunities abound in both the school year and summer religious education programs. Catechists, aides and subs are always needed in the classroom. Also needed are runners or office helpers during the school year. In the summer, Loreto and VBS employ an army of volunteers in addition to those in the classroom. Needed are nursery workers, snack ladies, recreation leaders, teens and youth to help plan and execute opening prayer, photographer, the list is endless! As always, children of volunteers get to attend the program for free. Email Peggy for more information on ways you can help.

All volunteers who work with children are required to undergo a background screening and attend one Child Protection class. Save environment and child protection requirements
